Transient Permanence | Solo Exhibition | Doina Maravela Moss
London-based artist and acclaimed British architect of Romanian origin, Doina Maravela Moss, is delighted to announce her upcoming solo exhibition at the esteemed gallery Nicolae Mantu, the HQ of UAPR Galati.
Spanning from July 23rd to August 12th, 2026, this exhibition marks a significant milestone as her third solo presentation in Romania. A private preview is scheduled for Thursday, July 23rd, at 6 pm, offering an exclusive glimpse into her latest visionary works, introduced directly by Doina who will be flying to Romania especially to organise and present this exhibition, while having the chance of meeting and interacting with the public. The exhibition curator is the distinguished artist Sorina Vadeanu.
To celebrate the opening on July 23rd, Doina has invited renowned fashion designer Simona Șpan to present a static fashion exhibition with models, displaying sumptuous painted dresses, adding an enchanting touch to the preview event.
Recognized both within the art circles of the UK and the architectural community—she is a member of RIBA and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (FRSA). Doina Moss continues to bridge disciplines through her compelling visual narratives. Her ongoing collaboration with UAPR Galați as an associate artist, since 2022, underscores her commitment to fostering artistic dialogue rooted in cultural and local identities.
The latest exhibition comprises four captivating series of oil paintings—totalling 35 oil canvases, varying in size—that exemplify her mastery of en plein air techniques and thematic depth. The first series reveres Queen Marie of Romania, depicting her castles and gardens in Sinaia and Bucharest in Romania, and Balchik, her summer residence, currently in Bulgaria, revealing a poetic dialogue between regal legacy and natural beauty. The second series captures the lush landscapes surrounding Richmond’s royal parks in London, embodying the serenity of her immediate environment. The third series was born during her international travels. The fourth capsule was painted en plein air on the Devon coast, depicting marine scenery and the high tide differential giving the coast different contours. The first three parts of the capsule collection were exhibited at Peles Castle in 2024 and at the UAR Bucharest in 2025 - an homage commissioned by the Ministry of Culture, where her landscapes serve as portals to distant horizons and historical narratives.
In May 2026 Doina had her own stand at MOBU art fair, as part of the Rounit group of international artist, aquiring the title of Art Ambassador for 2026.
Through her artistry, Doina Maravela Moss explores temporal and seasonal transience, revealing landscapes as repositories of permanence, recurrent cycles of light and shadow evoking universal emotional truths. Her nuanced portrayal reflects an understanding that landscapes are both geographical entities and cultural symbols; a synthesis of local traditions and historical influences, much like Queen Marie’s blending of English landscape ideals with Romanian and Bulgarian contexts, resulting in complex, layered visual narratives.
This anticipated exhibition promises an immersive journey into Doina’s exploration of heritage, landscape, and the dynamics of travel, offering a rare convergence of historical consciousness and contemporary expression. Her work invites viewers to contemplate the mutable yet enduring essence of place, identity, and memory.
